The objective of this report is to describe each of the telematic technologies terms in the classification used to index ETHOS records, e.g. the records in the ETHOS News Directory. For each term, the technology or concept is defined and described in non-technical language, the application of the technology or concept indicated, and the business advantages and disadvantages identified. The higher, lower and related terms from the classification are also given for each term being described. In addition, short glossary entries are given for a number of relevant concepts, technologies or jargon terms which are referred to in the descriptions, but do not form part of the hierarchical classification, or are used in related ETHOS deliverables. The report includes a total of 239 entries - 194 full descriptions and 45 glossary terms. A subset of 76 terms from the classification is used to index the News Directory entries on the ETHOS Web site. For each term of this subset, the description and business benefits will be made available on the Web site, directly linked to News Directory entries. This is to aid the user in making most effective use of the News directory. |
